Join the new Facilitator Bank!
The Facilitator Bank was created by Chattanooga Venture in the 1980s to support community visioning and implementation. It continued under the Regional Planning Agency but eventually faded.
We need those capabilities now to bring people together, reduce fragmentation, and share ideas and resources. Group facilitation is a valuable skill especially when combined with understanding of what real community engagement is, why it is important, and how to do it.
Therefore, the Facilitator Bank is being revived as a professional development program with community service requirements. It will consist of six two-hour sessions, at least three of which must be in-person, with homework assignments. Participants must facilitate at least three “community confabs” to complete the program. Participants will get a comprehensive understanding of community venturing as a practice along with in-depth practical knowledge of group facilitation.
There will be a $500 fee to join the program, which may be reduced or waived by doing research and handling logistics. All sessions will be open to the public with an optional attendance fee.
